Redact a PDF
Black out private details for good. Redacted pages are flattened when you save, so the hidden text can’t be copied back out.
Your documents are processed on your device and never uploaded.
About this tool
A black rectangle drawn on a PDF usually just sits on top of the text, which is still there to copy and paste. Real redaction removes it. When you save, every page with a redaction is rebuilt as a flat image with the boxes burned in, so nothing under them survives.
Pages without redactions keep their normal, selectable text. Because redacted pages become images, their text can’t be searched afterwards. That is the point.
Questions
How is this different from White-out?
White-out hides text visually; it can still be copied. Redact removes it permanently.
Should I check the result?
Yes. Open the saved file, try selecting the blacked-out area, and check the file’s other pages and attachments for the same details.
