About this tool
You need the password to unlock a file: EditMyDocument doesn’t crack, guess or bypass passwords. If the author also turned off printing, copying or changes, you’ll be asked for the permissions password (sometimes called the owner password) as well. Without it, those restrictions stay in place.
Only unlock documents you own or have permission to change. Removing protection from someone else’s file can break copyright law and contract terms.

Can you open a PDF if I lost the password?
No. Without the password the contents are encrypted and can’t be read.
Is the password sent anywhere?
No. It’s used on your device to open the file and is forgotten when you close the tab.
