1. The Service
EditMyDocument.com (the “Service”) provides free online tools for viewing, editing, signing, filling, converting, organizing, compressing, protecting and recognizing text in documents. The tools run in your web browser and process files on your device. EditMyDocument.com is owned and operated by Havard Solutions LLC, an Alabama limited liability company (“Havard Solutions”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and if you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
3. Your documents
You keep all rights in your documents. We claim no ownership of them and, because they are processed on your device and not uploaded, we don’t receive, store or use them. You are responsible for keeping copies of your originals and for checking every file the Service produces before you rely on it or send it.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use the Service only with documents you have the right to use and change.
- Check that converted, compressed, redacted, protected or edited files are complete and correct.
- Keep your own passwords: we can’t recover a password you set on a PDF.
- Follow the laws that apply to you and to the documents you handle.
5. Acceptable use
Your use must follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms. In particular, you must never use the Service to forge signatures, alter documents to deceive anyone, or remove protection from files you’re not entitled to unlock.
6. Electronic signatures
The Service places an image of a signature you draw or type onto a document and can add a signing record page. It does not verify identity, and it is not a certified digital-signature or e-notary service. Whether an electronic signature is valid or accepted for a particular document is your responsibility. Read our Electronic Signature Disclosure before signing anything important.
7. Redaction, protection and conversion
White-out, Edit text and Crop hide content visually but do not remove it from the file. Only Redact removes content, by flattening affected pages into images. Password protection uses AES-256 encryption, but permissions such as “no printing” can be bypassed by some software. Conversions between formats may not preserve every detail of layout, fonts or features. OCR may misread text. Always review the output.
8. Advertising
The Service is supported by ads, including personalized ads where permitted. You agree not to interfere with ads or ad measurement, and not to click ads except out of genuine interest. See our Advertising Disclosure.
9. Paid plans
All current features are free. If we offer paid plans in the future, they’ll be governed by these terms plus our Subscription and Refund Policy, and you’ll see the price and renewal terms before you pay.
10. Our intellectual property
The EditMyDocument.com name, logo, website design, text, guides and software are owned by Havard Solutions LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use the Service as offered, but you may not copy, resell, frame or reverse-engineer it, or use our name and logo except as our Brand Guidelines allow. Open-source components are used under their own licenses, listed on the licenses page; nothing here limits your rights under those licenses.
11. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
12. Third-party services and links
Ads, links and third-party services (such as Google’s consent tool) are provided by others. We aren’t responsible for their content, products or practices. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Google Docs and other product names are trademarks of their owners; EditMyDocument.com is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAVARD SOLUTIONS LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, THAT OUTPUT FILES WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR ACCEPTED BY ANY RECIPIENT, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAVARD SOLUTIONS LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, DOCUMENTS, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL OR OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
15. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Havard Solutions LLC against claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your documents, or your breach of these terms or the law.
16. Suspension and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and may block access that violates these terms. We may update these terms; the dates at the top show when. If a change is significant we’ll post a notice on the home page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
17. Disputes and governing law
Please contact us first at support@havardsolutions.com; most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally, and both of us agree to try for 30 days before filing a claim. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Mobile County, Alabama, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where it qualifies. If you live outside the US, you keep any protections of your home country’s law that can’t be waived by contract.
18. General
These terms, together with the policies they link to, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them as part of a sale or reorganization. Sections 3, 7 and 10 to 18 survive termination.
